Wootha Prize Entrant 2018 - Couloir
Couloir was our first entrant into an exhibition and what better exhibition than the richest woodworking art prize in Australia. We were delighted to take home third prize for our efforts. Constructed in reclaimed Ironbark and Tasmanian Oak Couloir is a study of contrast and unorthodox joinery. The legs are strengthened by the three supports on each side they are absolutely essential to this piece, during construction the bare legs are by far the weakest point. The addition of the Tasmanian Oak supports adds not only beautiful detailing to this piece of furniture but adds huge amounts of strength exactly where it's needed. Finished in OSMO Hardwax Polyoil in a Matte finished this piece of furniture, designed and made in Brisbane just works.
